In perfect rain conditions, New Measurement Train 'stand-in' power car No. 43299 leads train 1Q18, the 06.11 Reading Triangle to Paignton via Penzance and Dawlish Warren through Dawlish Warren on 12 March 2021. The train today was formed 977995, 977984, 975814, 977993, 977994, 975984 with 43062 on the rear.
A slightly different image of the delivery run of GW15 from Wabtec Doncaster to Laira depot on 11 March 2021. 43172, 49115, 48143, 48144, 48145 and 43192 are seen between Rockstone bridge and Coastguards with train 5V84 07.42 Wabtec Doncaster to Laira. The train is about to pass the recently installed monitoring equipment to measure wave overtopping levels. The equipment has been installed by the National Oceanography Centre and the University of Plymouth Coastal Processes Research Group. Note also that the old Coastguards boat house is being demolished.
In the gloom, another bit of Turbo history for the sea wall, the first double set. On 10 March 2021, sets 165132 and 165134 depart from Dawlish with train 2T07, 06.55 Exmouth - Paignton.
With the new fence now completed on the Dawlish Sea Wall between the station and Kennaway Tunnel, some photography is still possible. This view is recorded close to the new Town Gateway ramp and stairs and provideds an OK view of a down train, perhaps a little head on. A view slightly closer to the viaduct will be possible once the remaining section on the upper wall to the right of the train is opened in near future, once some safety issues are dealt with. Class 166 No. 166205 departs from Dawlish station on 9 March 2021 with train 2T14, 10.23 Exmouth - Paignton.
First interesting thing I've seen through Dawlish in days. DR75010 'Roger Nicholas', a Plasser & Theurer 09 4x4/4 machine, heads towards Kennaway Tunnel on 8 March 2021 with transit move 6Q58, 10.53 Gloucester Horton Road to Hackney Yard Newton Abbot.
