Nudity in Dawlish. With decals and nameplates removed, off-lease GW power cars Nos. 43021 and 43132 with set LA02 emerge from Kennaway Tunnel, Dawlish for the very last time. The train forming train 5Z11 13.55 Laira to Bristol SPM are starting their journey to ScotRail via refurbishment at Wabtec. The start of the end of the HST era!

Something a little different. Very early on the morning of 29 August 2017, around 00.30, Class 800 No. 800001 was involved in a test run from Stoke Gifford to Paignton and return. The return run, operating as 5X51, 23.30 (28/8) Paignton to Stoke Gifford (running 21 late) is seen emerging from Kennaway Tunnel, illuminated by two street lights and car headlights!. Recorded just for a bit of fun.
Well, I can't remember the last Bank Holiday that the sun was out and people were on the beach here in Dawlish. Retro-liveried Class 43 No. 43002 heads west at Dawlish on 28 August 2017 leading train 1C79, the 11.06 Paddington to Plymouth.
Well, its not everyday you get four Class 153s operating as one train. On Sunday 27 August 2017, Nos. 153361, 153318, 153377 and 153369 pass Dawlish forming train 2C47, the 12.15 Exeter St Davids to Penzance. Nice it was formed blue, green, green, blue.
Mixed liveries. GW blue liveried No. 143617 leads green liveried No. 143620 towards Kennaway Tunnel, Dawlish on 27 August 2017 forming train 2T14, the 11.24 Exmouth to Paignton.
Another livery mix, Class 153 No. 153372 and Class 150/1 No. 150120 heads towards Kennaway Tunnel, Dawlish on 27 August 2017 with train 1C04, the 07.26 Bristol Temple Meads to Penzance.

West Coast Railway Class 57/3 No. 57313 approaches Dawlish on 26 August 2017 powering 'The Dartmouth Statesman Pullman', 1Z61 17.00 Kingswear to Wolverhampton. On the rear of the train was Class 57/6 No. 57601.
GWR Class 57/6 No. 57602 passes below Skew Bridge at Teignmouth on 26 August 2017 powering the Saturday only 2E75, 13.35 Plymouth to Exeter St Davids.

The train, formed of 'The Statesman' stock, is seen skirting Marine Parade, Dawlish heading towards Kennaway Tunnel.

Well the sun is out and so is the New Measurement Train. Friday 25 August 2017, NMT power cars Nos. 43062 and 43014 pass along the coast line at Dawlish and skirt Lyme Bay with train 1Q18, the 05.25 Old Oak Common to Paignton via Paddington, Penzance and Teignmouth.

Interesting HST action continued on Sunday 13 August 2017 on the Dawlish Sea Wall, with Virgin East Coast power car No. 43305 leading the 12.25 Plymouth to Glasgow. XC power car No. 43207 brings up the rear. The train 1S51 is seen skirting Marine Parade, Dawlish and heading towards the station.
On 12 August 2017 Virgin East Coast visited the Dawlish Sea Wall, wjen Craigentinny-based No. 43305 was hired to CrossCountry to replace the EMT power (see below) car which reportedly had failed. Along with XC No. 43207 the pair formed train 1V58, the 09.00 Glasgow to Penzance, seen here on the rear of the train entering Kennaway Tunnel, Dawlish.
A VERY rare working on the Dawlish Sea Wall took pace on 11 August 2017, when East Midlands Trains HST power car No. 43043 formed the rear power car of train 1V44, the 06.00 Leeds to Plymouth, following failure of the booked vehicle at Leeds Neville Hill. In light rain, the train is seen entering Kennaway Tunnel, Dawlish.
As it was 'still' raining, East Midlands power car No. 43043 was recorded from the dry of Dawlish station foot bridge on 11 August 2017. No. 43043 leads 1S51 the 12.25 Plymouth - Glasgow (which started from Totnes), and is seen approaching Dawlish station. On the rear is CrossCountry No. 43207.
On Saturday 12 August, GWR Class 57/6 No. 57602 pulls away from its Dawlish stop and passes the old Dawlish Coastguards station working train 2E75, the 13.35 Plymouth to Exeter St Davids.

A little bit of monochrome for the 6 August 2017 return of The Royal Duchy, 1Z39 17.40 Par to Bristol Temple Meads, powered by No. 46100 'Royal Scot', which for some odd reason was carrying GW style slat reporting numbers. The train is seen emerging from Kennaway Tunnel, Dawlish.
