Class 47 No. 47714 provides power to Hitachi Class 800/1 set No. 800101, formed of five vehicles 819101, 818101, 817010, 811101 at the Asfordby test and commissioning centre on 28 May 2015.
On 27 May 2015, Network Rail operated an inspection train from Reading to Paignton via Bristol. The train was formed of saloon No. 975025, the former SR General Managers saloon, powered by DRS Class 37 No. 37402. On the outward journey, departing from Reading at 08.50 the train was propelled by the class 37 and on the return the Class 37 hauled the saloon. The return working, operating as the 14.47 Paignton to Reading via Taunton and the B&H route is seen passing Powderham on the banks of the River Exe.

After receiving a repaint into Devon Cornwall Railways livery on the South Devon Railway at Buckfastleigh by the Devon Diesel Society, No. 31601 recently named Devon Diesel Society passes Dawlish on 24 May 2015 running light as 0Z31, the 13.40 Totnes to Tyseley.
Rather than go to Church this Sunday morning (24 May 2015) I got Colas Rail Freight No. 70810 pulling out of Kennaway Tunnel, Dawlish with train 6C97 08.15 Ivybridge - Westbury via Plymouth, formed of an empty rail delivery set. Pity the sun went in 3 mins before it came!
Sometimes a late running train is a god send for photography! Had the first westbound 'Summer train of the FGW loco-hauled for 2015 been on time, Dawlish would have been in cloud. Thankfully the late running train crew saved the day and by the time it departed Dawlish it was full sun!. Nearly got bowled out by an up HST, but it was OK. 57303 departs from Dawlish on train 2C51, the 17.50 Exeter St Davids to Penzance running 44 minutes late on 23 May 2015.
Well, the first of the summer FGW loco-hauled Par-Plymouth-Exeter loco-hauled services operated today 23 May 2015. Power was provided by DRS Class 57/3 No. 57303 and the train was formed of the three day saloons of the overnight sleeper service. The up train, 2E75, the 13.35 Plymouth to Exeter is seen approaching Dawlish Warren, had no time to get anywhere better.

On 16 May 2015, Colas Rail Freight Class 70s Nos. 70803 and 70809 'top and tail' westbound engineers train 6C21 the 17.47 Westbury to Truro via Penzance. In the middle of the formation is Kirow crane DRK 81624 and support vehicle KFA FS97413 operated by SB Rail. Totally amazed that when a 'nice' train was about the water is in the harbour!!.

On 16 May 2015, DB-S Class 66 No. 66204 powers train 5Z44, the 09.00 Laira to Wabtec Kilmarnock formed of HST trailer vehicles 44032, 42269, 42267, 42325, 42072, 40716, 41130 and 42288 formed between barrier cars 6330 and 6338. The train is seen approaching Dawlish station from Kennaway Tunnel.

On 15 May, steam loco No. 70000 Britannia is seen heading for Dawlish powering 'The Dartmouth Express' the 07.09 Slough - Kingswear charter.
Testing Testing. In moderate light, the (New) Measurement Train passes Dawlish on 15 May 2015 forming train 1Q18, 05.17 Old Oak Common to Plymouth via Paddington, which was running one hour early. The train was formed 43014, 977975, 977974, 977993, 975814, 977984 and 43062. Amazing the sun came out!
Concurrent with the Class 73 rebuild project being undertaken for GBRf by Brush Traction. Two further Class 73s have received an extensive rebuild by Rail Vehicle Engineering Ltd of Derby, with Nos. 73104 and 73211 emerging as Nos. 73951 and 73952. This rebuild is totally different from the Brush project, and sees two Cummins CSK19 755hp diesel engines installed (far end in above picture), together with new electrical equipment. Totally new driving cabs have been developed, while extensive modifications have been made to the bodysides and cab ends. The front ends now incorporate new headlight/marker light/tail light clusters and below window connected windscreen wipers. The locos are air brake only. After extensive static testing at Derby, No. 73952 is currently based on the Seven Valley Railway for dynamic testing and staff training and on 11 May 2015 is seen stabled in the short platform road at Kidderminster.
