The first time (I think) this chap has been down on the sea wall in daytime. Loram C21 seven-section Rail Grinder No. C2103 (vehicles 79257 'Martin Elwood', 79256, 79255, 79254, 79253, 79252 and 79251) heads between Kennaway Tunnel and Dawlish station on 21 January 2018 forming transit move 6Z03, 14.45 Tavistock Junction to Swindon Cocklebury. Right at the same time we had the Exeter-based Air Ambulance land on the beach by the station to pick up an injured person, never a dull place is Dawlish.

First, Chiltern Railways-liveried Class 68 hauled train in Devon.

First, Chiltern Railways-liveried Class 68 hauled train in Devon.
Chiltern Railways liveried Class 68 No. 68011 passes Dawlish on 15 January 2018 running light as 0Z63, 09.35 Crewe Gresty Bridge depot to Plymouth. The loco arrived to haul a stock move with Mk3 hauled stock to Crewe the following day. This was the first ever Chiletrn-liveried 68 to visit Devon.
On a dull flat light morning with a yellow train, what else can one do but play. The NMT formed with power cars 43013 and 43062 pass Dawlish on 12 January 2018 forming train 1Q18, 05.19 Reading Triangle Sidings to Paignton via Penzance and Teignmouth.

Those nice men from Colas Rail Freight brought down some photographic fodder on 5 January 2018, with the running of train 6Z29, 10.30 Westbury to St Blazey via Exeter Riverside. From Westbury the train was formed of Class 70s Nos. 70816 and 70813 'top and tail' of load 31. The rear 20 wagons and 70813 were then detached at Exeter Riverside and train continued with 70816 plus load 11 (5 ballast opens and six loaded sleeper flats). The shortened train is seen passing Dawlish just as the rain started.
Yet another HST in a tree-strike today - 4January 2018, this time involving 43015 leading the 12.03 Paddington to Penzance west of Hungerford. 43015 sustained some moderate body damage to the cab end and was later sent as train 5Z77 16.00 Newbury to Laira via Reading, to enable the train to be driven from the good power car No. 43175. The damaged car is seen trailing through Dawlish en route to Laira.
Colas Rail Freight Class 66 No. 66850 is seen heading towards Kennaway Tunnel, Dawlish on 4 January 2018 with engineers train 6T27, the 08.31 Westbury Yard to St Blazey Yard loaded ballast for weekend engineering works.
End of the road for two more GW power cars and a Mk3 rake. On 4 January 2018, power cars 43179 and 43135 with stock 44066, 42209, 42208, 42511, 42054, 42206 and 41104 formed train 5Z43 the 10.15 Laira depot to Bristol SPM on the first part of their journey to ScotRail. The train is seen passing adjacent to King's Walk, Dawlish.
