A bit more of this night hand held photography lark. This was recorded at Dawlish around 21.30 on 29 March 2016 of Colas Rail Freight Class 37 No. 37219 powering vehicles 977986, 977985, 999602 and DBSO 9708 as train 3Q55, the 21.08 Exeter Riverside to Exeter Riverside via Penzance.
On 31 March 2016, one of the handful of DB-Schenker red liveried Class 66s No. 66101 operated train 6C53, the 14.50 St Blazey to Exeter Riverside yard loaded china clay train. In good sun, the train is seen emerging from Kennaway Tunnel, Dawlish and passing along the Sea Wall towards Dawlish station.

A Colas Rail Freight drivers route training run operated from Westbury to Goodrington Sidings, Paignton on 31 March 2016. Class 66 No. 66849 was rostered to the duty which ran as 0C54, 10.26 Westbury-Goodrington and 0C56 13.28 Goodrington - Westbury, with a return trip to Newton Abbot during the Goodrington lay-over. However, both down and up moves ran very late. Here 0C56 is seen emerging from Kennaway Tunnel, Dawlish.
Making its first visit to the West Country carrying Springboard advertising livery, GWR three-car Class 158 No. 158798, the only official three-car operated by the company, is seen at Dawlish on 31 March 2016 forming train 2U20, the 12.48 Paignton to Cardiff, the set worked west as the 08.00 Cardiff to Paignton.
If 2Q08 the 04.12 Penzance to Exeter Riverside had run to time, it would have been bathed in full spring sun, but as it was four minutes early, the sun had not cleared the distant cloud line, so be. 950001 NRs track recording unit emerges from Kennaway Tunnel, Dawlish on 31 March 2016.
In its revised 'Digital Railway Track Recording Unit' livery and branding, set No. 950001, now devoid of a set number on one end, passes Dawlish and approached Kennaway Tunnel on 29 March 2016 forming the 06.39 Derby RTC to Laira.
Powered by Network Rail power cars 43013/062 the NMT is seen passing Dawlish on 11 March 2016 forming train 1Q18, the 05.25 Old Oak Common to Paignton via Paddington, Plymouth, Penzance and Teignmouth. Making one of its very rare runs west of the Saltash Bridge.

During engineering works at Teignmouth over the weekend of 5/6 March 2016, a number of engineering trains operated. On the morning of 5 March 2016, Colas Rail Freight Class 66 No. 66848 heads west through Dawlish soon after sunrise with train 6C36, the 04.02 Westbury to Teignmouth. On the rear is Freightliner Class 66 No. 66565.
On 4 March 2016, 56104 and 56081 head away from Kennaway Tunnel towards Dawlish with train 5S56, the 10.53 Laira Depot to Kilmarnock (running one hour early).
Not as sexy as yesterdays Class 37s, but todays (03/03/16) light power passing at Dawlish is UKRL Nos. 56081 and 56104 working as 0Z56 10.02 Leicester Depot to Laira, ready for a stock move on Friday (04/03/16) from Laira to Kilmarnock. Noise was impressive even if the light was crap.
Large logo blue Class 37/0 on lease to Colas Rail Freight, powers an engineers train at Dawlish, On 3 March 2016 Colas Rail Freight-operated No. 37025 Inverness TMD is seen emerging from Kennaway Tunnel, powering train 6C25, the 10.30 Tavistock Junction to Westbury Yard formed of 6 track carrying flats.
Sometimes good things come from bad!, following the incident in Devon involving Colas No. 70803 over the past weekend, Class 37 No. 37025 Inverness TMD, was sent light from Westbury to Tavistock Junction Yard on 2 March 2016 to assist with stock shunting. In dreadful conditions, the loco, running as 0Z77, the 14.00 Westbury to Tavistock Junction passes Dawlish.
Suggested by one member of GWR staff that this might me the Managing Directors private train, formed of two power cars and one FO vehicle, it is fact a vehicle stock move from Old Oak Common to Plymouth Laira depot. Running on 1 March 2016 as 5Z77 09.30 Old Oak Common to Laira, the train was formed of power cars Nos. 43030 and 43002 with TF No. 41103. The mini-train is seen passing Dawlish.
Well, its taken almost six months to happen, but both the GWR green power cars are now operating with a blue set (we did have one working with a blue set for a day or two a few weeks back). However, 43187 leads and 4188 tails 1A12, the 07.40 Paignton to Paddington (which started from Newton Abbot today) on 1 March 2016 emerging from Kennaway Tunnel and running along the Sea Wall towards Dawlish station.
