Vivarail Class 230 Battery set 230001
Set 230001 was the first converted operational D-Stock train produced by Vivarail, then operating as a diesel unit being originally displayed and carrying passengers at Rail Live at Long Marston on 21 June 2017. Over the last 12-18 months the set has been totally rebuilt and is now only battery powered. Traction batteries and traction motors are mounted below the two driving cars and the intermediate vehicle is a trailer.

Porterbrook 'Hydroflex' Class 799 No. 799201
The Porterbrook Hydroflex Class 799/2 is a rebuild of Class 319 No. 319382, work has been underatken at Long Marston.
The set retains its 25kV ac power collection system, which it currently uses for power. It no longer retains a 3rd rail 750V dc pick up system.
To operate on hydrogen, one driving car has been gutted and rebuilt to house three large hydrogen storage tanks, located at the inner end. The fuel cells, which produce the electricity, are located at the cab end. On the underframe a large traction battery is located, this is charged by the hydrogen fuel cells, with the battery then providing power to the train line for traction. The three hydrogen tanks and equipment add around 16 tonnes to the weight of the drivig car.
At present the train has not operated under hydrogen power.
Internally the set has been rebuilt to demonstrate different layouts, most use reclaimed material from other stock.
