It was getting a bit dull when the return steam went by, but thanks to the ability to shoot at high ISOs the result is OK. Black 5 No. 44871 emerges from Kennaway Tunnel, Dawlish on 30 August 2020 with train 1Z85, 17.29 Par to Bristol Temple Meads, which the steam worked forward from Plymouth. Nice to see a few people out to see it, both locals and holiday makers.
Im sure this engine is fitted with a tender drive! never see a lot of steam! Black 5 No. 44871 leads 'The Royal Duchy' 1Z82, 08.47 Bristol Temple Meads to Par, through Dawlish on 30 August 2020. The steam came off at Plymouth to turn via Laira, while the train continued to Par powered by 47804. Very few people out to see it.
Colas Rail Freight managed to make a nice early show at Dawlish on 30 August 2020 with No. 70812 on train 6C97 08.19 Lostwithiel to Westbury rail delivery train. Seen passing under the Coastguards Bridge and passing the soon to be demolished old boat house. Only another week and this view will go for ever, with the closure of the walkway from the Viaduct to Rockstone Bridge for development work.

On 25 August 2020, Freightliner orange-liveried No. 66415 'You Are Never Alone' powered train 6Y15, 18.59 Taunton Fairwater to Dainton via Totnes. In the near dark, the train heads towards Kennaway Tunnel.
As I often say, you never know what is going to go by Dawlish. Tonight, 24 August 2020, Freightliner orange-liveried No. 66415 'You Are Never Alone' was the rear loco on 6Y15, 18.59 Taunton Fairwater to Dainton via Totnes. In the near dark, the loco tails the train into Kennaway Tunnel.
DB Class 66/0 No. 66005 Maritime Intermodal One, painted in Maritime Intermodal livery, emerges from Kennaway Tunnel, Dawlish on 20 August 2020 with train 6Z60, the 11.51 Parkandillack to Bescot, (load 11).
Well it was worth a little drive to Teignmouth on the morning of 20 August 2020, to catch the returning Loram Rail Operations Class 20s. No. 20205 'top and tail' with 20189 pass Teignmouth with 5M16 11.40 Plymouth to Derby RTC formed of coaches 5919, 6046 and 9525.
With the new King's Walk on the left, viewed from the station footbridge, train 6C36, 07.17 Moorswater to Aberthaw headed by Colas Rail Freight Class 70 No. 70812 approaches Dawlish on 20 August 2020. Lucky sun as the clouds are bubbling up.
You never know, one week from the next, what you are going to get down here on the Dawlish Sea Wall. On 19 August 2020 this little specimen operated, Class 20s Nos. 20189 and 20205 'top and tail' of three Loram Rail Operations Mk2s Nos. 9525, 6046 and 5919, operating as train 5V16, 11.18 Derby RTC to Plymouth. The train is seen passing Dawlish Warren on the middle road.
950001 passes Dawlish on 17 August 2020 with train 2Q08, the 03.20 Derby RTC to Laira depot.
On 13 August 2020, I tried a slightly different view of the up cement on the wall before the new fence is put up. In the area inward of the bulge, where the temp fence is set back a bit to allow work on the crazy paving to progress, you can get an uninterrupted view of a train emerging from Kennaway Tunnel. Get the view while you can, fence building is going to be rapid. 70812 leads train 6C36 07.17 Moorswater to Aberthaw.

Bringing up the rear and providing train supply to the 'English Riviera Express' on 2 August 2020 was Loco Services Ltd Class 47 No. D1935 (47805) Roger Hosking MA 1925-2013, restored to an excellent standard in two-tone green with small yellow warning ends. Seen skirting Marine Parade, Dawlish.
Above and Below. The second week of the 'English Riviera Express' in 2020, the 1Z27 09.07 Bristol Temple Meads to Kingswear via Weston super Mare operated on 2 August 2020. Power was provided by BR Standard No. 70000, renumbered as 70022 Tornado. It is seen skirting the new Kings Walk in Dawlish. Ive posted two versions of the picture, one as taken (below) and the other with with the dreadful red fence supports, de-saturated to make for a slightly visual image. These will be gone in a few weeks.
