Always nice to see a green Class 47 roaming the tracks of Devon. Below D1935 (47805) passes Starcross on 13 September 2021 powering LSL stock as train 5Z50, 08.25 Crewe to Kingswear. Above I managed to get back to Dawlish before the train, so here it is again passing adjacent to Marine Parade.
On Sunday 12 September 2021, Freightliner No. 66543 (with 66951 on the rear out of view) emerges from Coryton Tunnel with train 6Y97 08.35 Plymouth to Westbury, formed of an empty rail delivery train.
A view which is about to change for ever, of a train emerging from the eastern portal of Parsons Tunnel. Soon the new rock shelter will be built covering the railway from the portal to almost the signal bridge. Running about 150mins late due to loco and brake issues at Cheltenham and turning the train via Gloucester, West Coast Railway Class 57/6 No. 57601 heads towards Kennaway tunnel, Dawlish on 5 September 2021 with Northern Belle charter 1Z42 09.29 Birmingham International to Paignton.
A slightly different viewpoint for the daytime Colas on 4 September 2021, Starcross looking over the harbour. No. 66847 powers train 6C23 12.55 Burngullow to Westbury, through the station with a partly loaded ballast train.
I feel sure that the Greta Thunberg child would be writing to Colas Rail Freight if she was to have seen 66846 passing Dawlish on the evening of 3 September 2021, powering 6C22, 17.10 Westbury to Burngullow Junction. A fine display of quality exhaust.
57313 tails the Northern Belle through Cockwood on 3 September 2021 forming train 1Z82, 16.55 Paignton - Swansea.
On 3 September 2021, the Northern Belle operated a charter from Swansea to Paignton and return. The return train coincided with a high tide at Cockwood Harbour, made even better by the sun being out. Led by 57601 Windsor Castle, 1Z82, the 16.55 Paignton to Swansea passes a large flock of Canada Geese resting in the harbour. The first coach is Mk3 sleeper 10703 which has recently joined the Northern Belle fleet, previously being with Caledonian Sleepers.
