During the evening of 29 December 2016, a well respected cafe 'Love at the First Bite' located at Coryton Beach, Dawlish was 'tourched'. These images were taken the following morning.

Pulling out of the mist and away from Kennaway Tunnel, Dawlish on 18 December 2016, Colas Rail Freight Class 70 No. 70807 leads train 6C97, the 08.20 Camborne to Westbury via Penzance, empty long welded rail train, catching the best bit of light we had all day.
Well, last week it was 'Rain Stopped Play' at Dawlish, today 18 December 2016 its 'Fog Stops Play'. If the sun had been out it would have been a nice pic of the GW Daytime Sleeper service. On Sunday 18 December 2016, following the failure of Friday nights up 'Night Riviera' service, train 5C99 operated, the 08.50 Laira to Paddington, powered by No. 57604 with dead No. 57603 on the rear. Following Friday nights failure, No. 57604 was hauled on the rear of the down sleeper to Penzance to provide rescue and on Saturday No. 57604 hauled the train and dead 57 to Laira.
Rain stops Play! I refuse to go out in pissing rain even to get the cement. On 15 December 2016, Colas Rail Freight No. 70805 emerges from Kennaway Tunnel, Dawlish powering train 6C36, the 10.09 Moorswater to Aberthaw via Lostwithiel.
Arriva Trains Wales Class 150 No. 150230 passes the long closed Holywell Junction station on the North Wales Coast, forming service 1H87, 11.44 Llandudno Junction to Manchester Airport. Holywell station was opened on 1 May 1848 by the Chester and Holyhead Railway and was adjacent to Greenfield Dock, which had a tramway connection to the town of Holywell. Holywell became Holywell Junction station on 1 May 1912, when the line to Holywell Town opened. Holywell Junction station closed to passenger traffic on 14 February 1966 and to freight in 1973.

Those nice little men with yellow and orange locos, provided the usual Sunday entertainment, today, 11 December 2016, Class 70 No. 70802 is seen approaching Sheldon Bridge, Teignmouth powering train 6C97, the 08.05 Long Rock to Westbury via Penzance, part loaded long welded rail train. NICE low winter light.
It is not every day that Great Western Railway operate a charter passenger service between Exeter St Davids and Newton St Cyres. However, on 8 December 2016 one such train operated. The outbound service 2Z41, the 11.50 Exeter St Davids to Newton St Cyres was formed of Class 143 No. 143619, which then returned empty to Exeter. The return train operated as 2Z93 the 15.12 Newton St Cyres to Exeter St Davids and was formed of Class 153 No. 153318. To reach Newton St Cyres, the '153' operated as 5Z93 14.15 Exeter St Davids to Newton St Cyres via Crediton. The image above shows the train passing through Newton St Cyres station en route to Crediton. When this train arrived at Crediton, it saw three passenger trains at the station at the same time, the 'up' and 'down' Barnstaple services and the stock move, it must be many years since three trains have been seen together at this station. The charter was operated to transport a group of retired railway staff to a Christmas lunch at The Beer Engine Brew Pub, located adjacent to the station.

South West Trains Class 159/1 No. 159101 stands at Exeter St Davids on 8 December 2016 after arriving with the 08.20 Waterloo to Exeter (which started from Basingstoke after a person was hit by a train in the London area).
With 24 loaded PCAs, the new Aberthaw to Moorswater Colas Rail Freight cement operated for the second time on 7 December 2016. powered by Class 70 No. 70805, 6C35 the 04.00 Aberthaw to Moorswater is seen running adjacent to King's Walk, Dawlish heading towards Kennaway Tunnel.
In the winter months the half hourley St Erth to St Ives 'shuttle' service is operated by a single Class 150, rather than the double sets which operate in the peak season. On 6 December 2016, set No. 150239 arrives at St Erth with the 11.03 departure from St Ives, returning to the coast town as the 11.18 from the junction station
